I'm addicted to a few things in this life.... this web site at times, a good stiff drink and hot, slender young girls to go out on the town with! In Mex the drinking age is 18! jejejeje

Are you addicted?
by greendawn inare you addicted to cigarettes or alcohol or perhaps some other habit that you would like to kick?
did you manage to fight successfully a habit in the past or planning a battle for the future?
i never had any addictions in the past except on sweet things which creates an excess weight problem, as many times as i tried to get rid of it up to now i failed.

Its diet AND exercise. Diet alone will be tough as you need to burn off those calories. Get a buddy and hit the gym regularly. You don't see many fat people at the gym or if you do, they don't remain fat for long!

an "Adult's" View.
by RichieRich inhere i sit, in my public library, typing away a computer from a hot nasty seat.. but i wouldn't be anywhere else in the world right now.
(okay, maybe a couple of other places).
i have to be at work in 40 minutes, and its a 15 minute drive from here, so lets not expect a novel of a post.. yesterday was my birthday, and they did a little cake thing for me and all that which was nice, but otherwise, nothing is new.. my mother seems to be cooling off, but lets just say that the "excrement flinging fan" hasn't been turned off yet.. i'm 18 now, and nothing is different.

I'll give you a different piece of advice as regards credit cards. Get 3 or 4. Now... only use 1 different one per week to fill your tank with gas and then pay the bill off as soon as it comes in the mail.
As you are now an adult you'll need to build a good credit rating. This will help you in the future for major purchases like a car or home. Also, in the unfortunate event of a financial emergency, you will easily be able to obtain credit as you've built up a good record.
Be careful with credit. Its easy to start spending and get used to the low payment but many people take years to pay off dumb things they really didn't need. -

Rent vs. Buying a house
by Elsewhere in.
i have started thinking about buying a house again.
something that drives me nuts is the fact that i can't seem to get a straight answer out of anyone as to whether or not owning a house would be financially better than renting an apartment.. things to take into consideration:how much i pay in rent.how much rent increases each year.how much i pay in renters insurance.how much a mortgage would be.how much pmi or an 80 / xx mortgage would be.how much i would have to take from or borrow from my 401ks and iras for a down payment.how much i will have to pay in penalties for taking money from my 401ks and iras.how much money l will loose by not having that 401k money earning interest.how much maintenance on the property will cost.how much insurance will cost.how much i will be paying in property taxes.how much in "freebies" i will get from the seller (they will pay $xxx in closing costs if i use their mortgage company).other crap i haven't thought of yet.. it seems like everyone i talk to has their own agenda and they all give me different results based on they want me to do so they will get more money from me.

Here is another thought. Buy rental property. In many areas it may be cheaper to rent. The purchase of a rental property will allow you to gain equity. Also you will not loose your standard deduction. You'll have more write offs and the like with the rental property.
For example, you can write off insurance and you can depreciate a rental property, among other deductions. You also won't be forced to choose between the standard deduction and having to itemize.
The rent will help you make the payments. I've known quite a few people who have purchased 4 unit properties in Texas. Prices are going up but imagine a 4plex for $250,000. With 20% down and a loan of $200,000 you'd have payments of $1297 assuming a 6.75% 30 year fixed rate. Taxes and insurance would run $300 to 350. So the whole monthly package would be $1650 max. Renting each unit for at least $500 you'd take in $2,000. You are ahead of the game $350 or more and after depreciation and a few other tax breaks any increase in taxes would be negligible. You'd also maintain your standard deduction.
Now if you bought the roof over your head, you'd have the payment and nothing to offset it and you'd probably itemize deductions so in essence you'd lose the MFJ or Single standard deduction as you'd itemize instead (mortgage interest makes itemizing better). You'd also be payign out more than you are now. For what result?
I hope I explained myself clearly.
In some areas that are lower cost, if it isn't much more to pay to own than rent then I'd say do it. If you can rent much cheaper than you can own, then perhaps what I outlined above is for you.
Oh and NEVER touch your retirement plan. It is one of the few things to support you when you are old. I've seen people file bankruptcy and keep the accounts and look at OJ, he kept his. You can't turn back the hands of time and re-contribute. Messing with a retirement account almost always ends in trouble. I'm saying be cautious. Many people in financial straights cash out theirs and still are on a downward spiral. I'm not saying you are but just trying to caution you, that's all. Borrowing against funds can be ok if you MAKE SURE you pay back every penny. -

Most girls I've seen working there weren't all that good looking. I've only been to the ones in Hollywood and Santa Monica. Ugly girls and so so food. I'd say don't take her there unless you want to boost her ego with all the lack of talent. If ya wanna get kinky take her for good food and then to a strip club after.

Do you think that my college professor is a "racist"?
by booker-t ini am in a dilema at school that i need some feedback on.
my geography professor is a young caucasian man in his mid 30's.
he is very knowlegable about the other countries in the world but he always seem to make negative statements about blacks, hispanics, asians and native americans.

Everyone is entitled to his opinion. Don't be the thought police and just toughen up. In the real world you can't run to mom and say make him stop talking. If he is a racist, everyone knows it. Who really cares?
Mary had some good points.
Don't be looking under every rock for a racist. I have people tell me f'ing beaners when they talk about immigration issues and the bad things Mexicans do and they have no clue of my background. I'm not an overly sensetive person. I don't really care. -

UPDATE 2: Since Freedom is Free, Why is it Taxed?
by RichieRich inyesterday after school i had to go work on a project with friends.
mom said be home by 5, but there was a huge accident a mile from where i live, and i sat on the road for like 10 - 12 minutes, and was 5 minutes late getting home.
mom was there (didn't go to work- guess why) and she was pissed.

I didn't read the last million posts but I have an idea. If Mom is on you go and have your payroll department withhold the maximum from you right now (you'll have to fill out a new IRS Form W-4 withholding form. You can always get the money back later but you aren't taking it and your mom can't take it so it is a way that you'll get the money later, maybe the only way it will happen for you right now.
You won't notice a difference in what you get as mom will give you minimal funds but at the end of the year, or if your payroll dept is friendly you can change and then perhaps have less withholding later in the year when you are free, i.e. more net pay to you to use as you see fit.
I hope I made it all clear enough. -

You should have told them you were busy but you'd be happy to stop off at their places of employment unannounced to discuss the matter in the future.

Bars, clubs, on airplanes, busses, by the pool, at the beach, at parties, walking down the street, heck where can't you. Wherever there are people, there is opportunity.
